Haryana Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Bhupinder Singh Hooda wins from Garhi Sampla - Kiloi seat

Haryana Election Results 2024 Live: Political parties and leaders are anxiously awaiting the results in Haryana as counting begins at 8 am, with the ruling BJP optimistic about securing a third term, while the Congress, out of power for a decade, is hopeful of staging a comeback when the results are declared on Tuesday.

Haryana's chief electoral officer, Pankaj Agarwal, stated that a three-layered security system has been put in place at the counting centers.

These elections in Haryana mark the first significant direct contest between the BJP and Congress after the Lok Sabha polls. The outcome is expected to shape the narrative for future elections in states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi, where polls are scheduled in the coming months.

Key players in the race include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, INLD-BSP, and JJP-Azad Samaj Party. However, most seats are expected to witness a direct battle between the BJP and Congress.

Jammu and Kashmir also held elections simultaneously with Haryana, but most constituencies there have seen multi-cornered contests rather than a direct BJP-Congress fight.

In Haryana, 1,031 candidates, including 464 independents and 101 women, contested in the 90 constituencies during the single-phase election on October 5. The state saw a voter turnout of 67.9 percent, with several exit polls predicting a Congress win.

Despite the exit polls predicting a big Congress win, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a full majority and form the government for a third time when results are declared on October 8. He also suggested that if the Congress loses, they would likely blame Electronic Voting Machines.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a potential candidate for the chief minister's post, expressed optimism about achieving a clear majority. Responding to BJP leaders’ claims of victory, Hooda remarked, “What else can they say? The truth will be revealed once the results are out.”
