Cowboys vs. Steelers final score, results: Dak Prescott completes 'Sunday Night Football' comeback with late TD drive
In a highly anticipated meeting between two famed NFL franchises on Sunday night, it was the Cowboys that came out on top.
After a lengthy weather delay pushed kickoff on “Sunday Night Football” back over an hour, Dallas used a go-ahead touchdown connection between Dak Prescott and Jalen Tolbert with 20 seconds remaining to topple Pittsburgh 20-17. and a lost fumble — as well as an unpleasant sideline confrontation with WR CeeDee Lamb.
However, Dallas' offense came through when it mattered most. It scored its first touchdown of the night early in the fourth quarter thanks to Rico Dowdle, and despite Pittsburgh taking a late lead on a Pat Freiermuth touchdown, the Cowboys stormed down the rain-soaked field at Acrisure Stadium, using their final chance, a fourth-and-goal play, to take the lead.
The Steelers' defense remained tough in all four quarters though, and T.J. Watt recorded 1.5 sacks on Prescott. Offensively, Pittsburgh did manage two touchdowns, but its run game was mostly ineffective. Justin Fields threw for just 131 yards, though he did manage a turnover-free outing.
Despite Mike Tomlin's squad coming into Week 5 just four points against the Colts away from being undefeated, it's now dropped to 3-2 this season in a tough AFC North. Dallas, now 3-2, needed a win for momentum purposes, as it's dealt with various injuries lately and now approaches matchups against three of the NFC's best teams in Detroit, San Fransisco, and Atlanta.
