Fethullah Gulen died at the age of 83

Fethullah Gülen, whose extradition Turkey requested from the US on the grounds that he was responsible for the July 15 coup attempt, has died at the age of 83.

The news of his death, announced by social media accounts close to Gülen, was later confirmed by his relatives Kemal Gülen and Ebuseleme Gülen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that Turkish intelligence sources confirmed Gülen's death.

The movement, led by Gülen, who moved to the US after a lawsuit was filed against him in 1999, began to be described as a "Fethullahist Terrorist Organization" following the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

Gülen has denied allegations of involvement in the coup attempt.

Fethullah Gülen, whom Turkey has accused of leading a "terrorist organization" and requested to be extradited from the United States, has reportedly been suffering from health problems for a long time.
